I recently bought a Fujian-branded CCTV lens from eBay, and I'm still getting used to manual focusing. It is also a bit weird (at least for me) that the aperture ring does not have a "click" for each stop - it turns continuously, so I just tried shots all wide open.

B&W conversion, some minor cropping, some color and saturation changes were done on straight-out-of-the-camera JPEGs (didn't work with RAW here). As usual, comments are welcome.

The bokeh is quite strange at smaller apertures, but quite nice wide open, especially when focused somewhat close.

I just got this lens/ adapter combo from ebay. According to the package label it's is a 8th generation c-mount to m4/3 (Super slim). In fact I can focus pass infinity, Luckily it came with 2 extension ring for closer focusing. Also there are no vignette in 4:3 and 16:9 (tested myself). FYI do not turn the aperture ring too hard it may damage the aperture blades.

Aperture set to around f5.6 has a real unique shape.

Fun and interesting lens, it has that cheap film camera quality that I remember from my childhood.

    Worth the money IMO...

    It's an interesting lens . . .

Definitely more character than sharpness. Here's an example wide open, where you can see the swirly bokeh.

I think it works well for portraits, but landscapes I'm not so sure. Though the pics by Jdumas look pretty darn good!

EDIT: I received two of these by accident, and one is now for sale; see the Members Buy/Sell forum if interested.

Thanks the first two were stopped all the way down and the kite was around 5.6 if I remember right.

I am really impressed with the results that I have seen in this thread. Peoples creativity using the character of this lens is amazing.

I have a 35mm f1.7 from eBay, but it's not branded as Fujian - it's called "Michael Lens" and came with a C to m4/3 adapter.

It has the same aperture blade shape as this, so I think it's got to be a very similar lens.

I'll post some photos shortly :)

Nice work Brian. In addition to cool bokeh, this lens can have some surprisingly nice sharpness IF you focus and set up the shot well, as you have shown here.

Great shots, but are you sure that first shot is from the Fujian 35/1.7? That doesn't at all look like Fujian bokeh. No swirlies! Same on #3, as well. Did Fujian update the lens????

Mine not so swirly either (it's the 25mm which is the real swirl monster). This lens can be unpredictable.

There seems to be quite a lot of variance between examples as well (poor QC?). What appears to be the same lens on the outside may not be the same inside, especially as it's sold under a number of brand names. Mine is branded "Fotasy", but looks exactly the same as the Fujian, right down to the wonky rubber focus grips. I don't think I have the oddball aperture blade pattern shown earlier in this thread. (Edit: upon closer inspection, it's the same)

Some attempted low-light bar portraits with the 35mm f/1.7 (set around f/2 to f/3):
