Fujifilm has dropped the price of the X100 to $999.00 until 11/3/12.

Not :43: but I'm using all of the will power I have to keep from pressing the 'Add To Cart' button :frown:.

    Maybe if I sell my backup E-PL1, 14-42 Mk1, 40-150, and VF2...

Prepare for buyer's remorse. An updated model is due in Q1/2013 with a sensor that has more MP.

Whether it will be the Fujifilm sensor from the X-Pro1/X-E1 or a Sony sensor, who knows?

Yep, I would expect it to be obsolete 8 seconds after I open the shipping container.

I'm used to it; after 40 years I'm still working with Wife ver 1.0 .....

I'm still on the fence (about the camera, that is). A thousand bucks ain't 'zactly cheap, but if they clear the racks at that price before the new model hits the market and I forgo the offer I'll be right where I am. Of course the price of used X100's might drop in Q1/2013 when the new model hits.

Thanks for the heads up on the new model!

Used ones are running as low as $750. I've been considering one, too, but was thinking more on the used side. I wish a new one was more like $600, lol :(

Awesome. I think I'll try to avoid any comparisons of early adoption and cutting edge wife technology or else I'll never make it to 40 years!

I'm on Wife 2.0. If we renew our vows that will be Wife 2.1.

I was happy to upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 because that involved a change to a newer model. However, I fear that the next upgrade is more likely to be from Husband 1.0 to Husband 2.0 and that it will not be in my control.

You're most welcome. The X100 is still a very good performer. If 12.3 MP is enough for you, the X100 is still worth considering. The lens is excellent.
