This grip was just recently released! I know, because I've been checking almost every other day to seen when a cheaper alternative to the Olympus brand grips would be out!

I just ordered one and should receive it tomorrow. I use one on my E-M10 and it works great. Just wanted to pass the word along for those looking to get a grip for their E-M5 II, but not pay the expensive price for the OEM brand one!

If all you want is additional grip, this looks like an OK solution, but for me, the extra shutter button on the Oly HLD-8g is more than worth the price. It is in a much better location, for me anyway, than the shutter button on the camera body.

I had the HLD-8G and returned it. It's too bulky for my taste and it's a pain to constantly remove it to access the battery. I only use small primes so I don't need the additional girth of the OEM grip.

I was using JB grip for my EM5 mark I, I felt great for that, then I purchased EM5II last week, I ordered the HLD 8G this time, mainly for the headphone jack.

I haven't receive yet, hopefully it's not too big.

Jonathan, thank's for the heads up!
This is just what I was looking for.
I also don't want the bulky Olympus one, and I found the JB grip ugly for my taste.
This one looks perfect to me. I really like the design the fact that there's no need to remove it when changing battery.

It's a shame that the product photos don't show the EM-5 Mark II...
Can you post a picture of your's mounted on the camera when you receive it?

Sorry you'll have to wait until tomorrow for another delivery attempt, I was in yoga class when FedEx called me and I had my phone on silent! :D

Received the grip and attached it. Everything fits fine. The tripod socket is also adjacent to the camera tripod screw area and the LCD flips open with no issues. It also maintains a low profile and allows battery access without removal. For the price it's totally worth it if you don't need the extra features of the OEM grip!

Thx for the pix. Looks great and small. Can I get some overhead shot when you get a chance? Also. How comfortable is it? Seems sharp. Thx.

Thank you very much for the pictures :)
That's just what I was looking for. I really like this grip design.
it is great to not have to remove the grip to change batteries.

It's really comfortable. I felt with the HLD-8G, it was more cumbersome to press the buttons. With this grip, my finger reaches just fine while still allowing for a stable holding position.

Also looking from the top, it doesn't really protrude much, hence why I didn't post any photos! By the base it widens out though which gives grip for the lower fingers.

I think you'll be satisfied with your purchase. I was handling my E-M5II with the grip last night and it felt really good in my hand. I've used the HLD-8G and a Gariz case for the camera, and this is by far my favorite and cheapest option!

Just received my HLD-8G from BH, it's kind of larger size than JB grip w/EM5 mark 1, I feel much bigger when you actually holding it , but the awkward angle you hold with the HLD-8G is not comfortable for me, the gap between camera body and grip's front handle is wider than I thought.

Now, I should try Fotodoix, Olympus just made me save some money.

Yeah, I think you'll appreciate the Fotodiox grip. It works great!
