No, this is not an experiment on cats.
It's an experiment with pictures of cats, and the easiest/only way I've found to get the pictures inside an old Nokia Lumia 610 that I've found.
The phone runs Windows Phone 7.5, with OS version 7.10.8779.8
Strange. It's running both 7.5 and 7.10.xx simultaneously. OS must be written by someone who is an MPD sufferer (sincerely hope, (probably in vain, though!) that I've not offended anyone by this callous insensitivity to a bonafide minority group!).
MPD is not even politically correct anymore, btw. It's now known as DID.
Wow. All these acronyms. Does a One World rainbow coloured team of easily offended professionals somewhere have this as a full time job, making up the acronyms?
But I digress upon my digression.
Back to the techie stuff. Not much risk of offending anyone with that! Who am I kidding! Of course there is! But, anyway, 'ere goes:
Methods tried:
1) USB cable to laptop. Nope. Just charging. For file exchange through the cable to work, I'll have to install an old M$ program that has been discontinued. Xune something. Forget that sh*t!
2) Ah! Bluetooth, naturally! Activate. Pair.
Send file.
New device says: Unsuccessful!
Lumia says: Couldn't connect!
After several tries, BT method binned.
Remembering my first Android phone, Xperia mini (v. 2.4, I think). It HAD Bluetooth, but you had to install an optional app to actually be able to DO something with it, besides illuminating a nice little icon on the desktop.
I won't go into the fact that the app store for Windows Phone isn't in its heyday. It's 2020, after all. Oh, and the OS naturally don't include any sort of file management app. Just as a sidenote. And no. No memory card slot. Naturally.
3) OK then! I'll just send an MMS to the Lumia. Said and done. On Lumia: "You've received a message with media content" accompanied by a link. Click link. Small sound. Nothing else. Tried several times. Only result: Small sound. Hrmmphh.
Checking storage. The OS, according to itself, has 6.09GB of storage, with 5.46GB available. Still 5.46GB available.
At this rate, it'll practically last forever!
By now several feathers of yours truly are seriously ruffled. Not to say moulting!
The effing thing smiles coyly at me, it seems.
Taking a break for some serious out of the box thinking. And a good nights sleep. And some food.
Wakes up with intellectual capacity refreshed. But wait! I've got a new message!
Paraphrasing: "XXX have sent you an MMS. Get it on {this link} with the code 82069416"
Yay! Clicks link. Gets web page with dialog boxes. Enters my Lumia phone number and my secret code. Clicks [Get MMS] button. Waits. IE version on Windows Phone v. 7.5 (or 7.10.xx) could be faster. But, it's only got 256MB of RAM, after all. I'm in no hurry. At long (

) last I'm getting my picture!
Page starts to load. Tension mounts.
Then I'm back at that first page again!
Slightly different layout. Does it all over again. Gets deposited right back once more. Done it some more times. Learnt secret code by heart.
Unnervingly, I sometimes didn't get sent back to the first page.
I got some "Security certificate" errors.
I sometimes actually get to the page where I supposedly could download my MMS. Only, when I clicked [Download] I was sent back, again. Once, I got to see a thumbnail of my picture. Argghh...
By now, it's become a matter of man against machine (or OS).
4) Load the page on MU-43 cat thread where my picture is posted, thinking I'd just download the pictures from there. Well, not loaded, really.
The pictures aren't displayed at all, except as blank web page real estate. Also the goddam version of IE crashes quite a lot. Starting to despair a little bit (more). Takes deep breaths. Then I got a flash. Beneath my post was a post from
@Holoholo55 where he quoted my message. Expanding the quote, I can click the link for [Attachment]. And finally I see my picture displayed!! Long press. Save picture.
And it worked!

I can't believe it!

Of course I could have made a Salamander local page, but didn't, though. My brother provided that information after the fact. Phew.
Man beat machine!
