I see they haven’t started arguing over the TV remote controller yet!

Cogent observation, Mike G! Their first (carrier-free) encounter was downright scary. Hulking Bentley came on with something between a scream and a growl. Petite Mercedes responded with hisses and spitting. I thought we were going to have WWIII on our hands. Somehow things worked out - within a week they went from being mortal enemies to being best buddies. They eat, sleep, play, run, romp and wrestle together. They are fun to watch - though various table-height things have fallen victim and we enjoy a new level of distributed cat hair.

It must be wonderful that they like each other. My 2 adopted cats (both neighborhood strays) don't like each other. When I see them close to each other, I grab the camera because it is so rare. The real problem is that Ziggy (behind the fence), doesn't really like anyone, she is almost afraid of her own shadow. Mr B (walking) is a sweetheart and really likes the dogs (especially the male, Jasper). Ziggy never leaves the yard (that we know of) and Mr B thinks he owns the neighborhood.

Mercedes is very much at home now. She enjoys nesting (I've found her in the coat closet and the dishwasher!) as well as resting where she can keep an eye on her humans. She discovered the soft briefcase on the bureau overlooking my desk and moved in (just like Lana, her tortoise-shell predecessor)!

Sorry to hear about your cat. Nineteen years is a good run. I have had lots of pets, but none made it to 19.

So sorry to hear about your kitty. He looks a sweetheart. Glad you got 19 wonderful years. As a cat parent, that's a day I dread.
