    Description

For sale is a very nice Canon FD 300mm f4 L lens. The lens is in great condition, comes with the tripod mount. I like the lens, it is sharper (and of course faster) than the Panasonic 100-300mm at 300mm. I think the colors are better too. It is easy to focus but I just don't use it enough to keep it.

Mounts easily to a tripod. A m43 camera hangs off the back easily. I can include an FD to m43 adapter if you don't have one.

Selling for $380. This is total cost to buyer. I will cover paypal and/or shipping charges.

I think of this as a less expensive (although manual focus) alternative to the new Olympus Pro 300mm F4 coming soon. This Canon L glass is also considered a Pro Lens.

    Thanks for the note.
I checked out your photos on the link and your assessments.

Very nice. I agree with your assessment. It has better IQ than the native lenses at 300mm and of course it is faster. I am thinning the heard a little after getting a Nocticron (guilt maybe on my total cost for the system) and decided to sell. I hope I don't later regret it.

I have taken a few photos with the FD 300mm f4 L lens so one can see generally how it performs. The sky was heavily overcast when I took these and there was no direct sun.

    Notes below.

1st photo with the P 12-32mm lens at 12mm to show the setup from my porch. You can see a tree out at the end of my front yard and a car/van across the court. I took two photos of the tree at f4 and then one at both f5.6 and f8 (all focused on tree center). Next I took one of the van at f4 and then one at both f5.6 and f8 (focus on back end of van). The files were renamed based on the f-stop and then uploaded to smugmug. These are straight out of the E-p5 as jpgs. I re-focused between each shot and used a tri-pod.

All the data (except f-stop and lens specific information) should be in the files EXIF data if anyone wants to download them for a peek.

Can't understand why it is not selling, price is really really good...

I have one of those and it's a fantastic lens... With focus peeking it is a charm to us...

I am doing a test tonight and depending on those results, it may very well be sold!
It would be my very first red ring FD lens...but I am afraid of the addiction to getting the others this will trigger. :D

Hello again. Just finished testing so now I am going to my computer for ultra interesting analysis of all photos :D
I was wondering if you need any macro lenses so we can maybe use it as a partial trade. I have a Canon FD 100mm Macro F4.
    Thanks

That sounds interesting but not for me. I am trying to thin the herd a little as I have collected too many lenses already.
