My wife is a professional photographer who has her own studio and is under retainer for several business interests, does lots of portraits for lawyers, professionals, and also photographs the arts such as our Grand Opera and other artistic endeavors. For a "give it back" project and for self-fulfillment, we both volunteer to photograph youth sports for free, allow downloading and free use of the photos of the players. We have photographed an inner-city baseball league for 7 years and have maintained their facebook galleries. For the past 4 years, we have photographed a local high school powerhouse football program that has been the runner-up in the State for the past two years. Through rain, snow, heat and whatever, we have been on the sidelines for each Freshman, Junior Varsity or Varsity game and try to post the images within hours of the final score. Our team was 12-1 for the past two years and the loss this year was significant to the young men and coaches. We were invited to the banquet to celebrate the season and to send the seniors off to their next challenge. I had just had surgery but was doing well so we went and I am glad we did. We were honored by the head coach and the team by being presented with a signed helmet from the team and coaches. We were speechless but very appreciated. My wife insisted that we go to her studio for a picture after the banquet.
