    Astonishing sequence. Who needs autofocus?
Which camera body were you using?

You tricked me! This isn't football; it's soccer.

Great set. Your shots with the 150/2 are making me start to jones for that lens.

Ha ha I have to disagree only American use "soccer". For the rest of the World the real name is Football .

    Great shots!
Did you have to do anything special with the ones where all the stadium lights are in the background, i.e. where they are coming onto the field - they look almost HDR-ish...

    Well done

    Great Job-

What kind of a ratio of keepers to not did you end up with, and how did it compare to using an autofocus lens?

I'm not sure what this "rest of the World" is that you speak of. Are you trying to tell me that life exists outside of the USA? Very interesting.

Nicely done! I thought shooting the World Cyclocross Championships with MF lenses was a challenge, but at least I generally knew the line the riders were going to be taking around the course. I can't imagine doing it with a less predicable sport like football.

Nothing fancy, just a touch of "clarity" in lightroom to enhance the stadium.

Clearly you can have a much higher ratio with a good autofocus lens ( and PDAF).
I tried my 75mm f1.8 and although the autofocus was fast I wasn't happy with the performance in S-AF. The 150 f/2 was awesome due to the f2 aperture ( I can stay away from iso 6400) and the good reach. I really hope Olympus will release a OMD with PDAF soon.

Ha! Here in Ireland, some of us argumentative types reserve "football" for Gaelic football, and "soccer" for the "foreign game", so there are some more pockets of resistance!

Really, really excellent shots, Steph! I have messed around with 50/1.8 and a cheap 70-210 zoom on manual focus with my E-P1, but miss way more than I get.

Next camera will have EVF! Did you add any grain to the images by the way?

Guadeloupe ! You were at just 45mm to my island Martinique.
Thanks for your comments and yes I've added grain to the first two images.

It must have been pretty challenging to hit proper focus given those conditions, nice efforts
