First shot from my new Olympus 25mm f/1.8

    Well I have the 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro and the standard 40-150mm. However I decided to get a prime lens so I purchased the 25mm f/1.8. I unboxed it tonight and took a quick handheld picture of my cat. Wow I'm pretty happy with the results especially since this was my first shot.

    I love my Oly 25mm (even more than the 45mm) though I have to admit I've not taken such a nice photo of any of our family's 3 cats.

    It's a great lens. Very sharp, smooth bokeh.

    I took some of the best photos ever of my wife using this lens. It's very nice for environmental head/shoulder shots.

    Congratulations on your new lens. I used to think I was unusual in that I like cats. But it seems as if most people with a camera have a cat! The only time a I can get a photo of my cats is when they're sleeping.

    I agree. I find it more useful for indoor portraits than the oft-recommended 45mm f1.8.

    My 25mm f1.8 churns out consistently razor sharp shots with perfect focus and is right there with my 75mm f1.8 for image quality.

    Terrific shot...the cat.

    I'm wondering how it will compare to the Panny 25mm f1.7, IQ wise, it's a fraction of the cost of the Oly.

    The only thing putting me off the Oly is the price here in the UK.

    Oly £289....Panny pre-order price £159.

    I just recently joined the m4/3 world and have been impressed so far. The 25mm Oly is amazing for its cost and size. I love the color and OOF areas in your shot. Pretty much all I've had a chance to do yet is pet shots.

    I have both - I was going to sell the o25 when I got the 12-40 as I thought "why keep the prime when the zoom covers the range". I'm so glad I kept it - of course there are pros and cons to both lenses - one is tiny and one is "heavy", the zoom is more expensive etc etc

    My 12-40 is marginally sharper than my prime and I use it more due to convenience. I keep looking at the P25 for the slightly better bokeh but it's bigger and the hood doesn't reverse so the o25 stays for now

    Wow, great shots all! Makes me feel a lot better about the used 25mm I have coming, to go along with the E-M1 body I recently bought.

    Love the face up cat shots, I have a bunch of mine as well. I've never been a 50mm guy...always like the 35mm focal length better...but the Oly 25mm has really sold me. I love using it. I don't own it now...but its most likely my next lens purchase. I loved it.
