So I had a go with the 100-300. This was before I got the tripod collar so completely hand held and highly cropped. It was about 1/2 mile away.

I love my 100-300, but when it comes to wildlife birding, 600mm is still too short sometimes rofl

here is mine, taken hand held and a lot closer than yours but still not close enough, highly cropped as well

This looks good LowTEC. I don't know how close you were but your cropping didn't seem to be detrimental (although I don't know how well it would print large).

Yes, actually way too short. I really need to practice with this one.

I need to convince these eagles to poke their heads above the branches also. Hard to focus with the branches in the way.

I just wish there was a m4/3 tele on par with the 12-35. :) I would gladly pay $2000 to have such a beast.

Mine was taken with raw and heavily worked on feather detail and background noise reduction. From my experience, our system doesn't like to focus on pure white feather easily. I would happily pay 2k if our same lens can get tack sharp wide open @300 mm. My 75mm works like 150 when cropped to 100% and the photo still come out sharper than the 100~300

I am keeping my eye on the new 150 coming out. Might be worth a try. But if it is too short to focus out that far it still does you little good.

What tripod collar did you get for the 100-300?
