I spent a few hours at my local circuit today trying out my OM-D for the first time. Pretty pleased with how it went, I used the Panasonic 100-300mm, everything is shot using AF which I felt held up pretty well. I need a warmer less windy day (when I'm not wearing thick gloves!) to really try things out though...

The camera seems to cope just fine. I like the Mini shot

You did very well (this excites me about getting my OM-D this week), these shots at this small size do not look dissimilar to shots out of my old D300 :)

    Nice set of images Harry,

Looks to me like the AF combo with that lens works perfectly for this type of subject, interested to see how it will work with faster moving subject matter such as aircraft?

I shoot a couple of airshows each year (Kemble & RIAT) and currently use my D700 as it is the camera that can cope with fast jet etc.

As much as I love the Nikon kit, it is heavy to lug around for 6+ hrs so a smaller lighter kit would be ideal and if the OMD can capture fast moving aircraft it can cope with all my requirements and I may be tempted to let the Nikon kit go and subsidise my existing Mu43 kit with and OMD+100-300.

Does anyone have any OMD airshow samples please and if so, please let me know what lens you used?

    Thanks,
    Ian

I am the same Ian…..I thought I had stopped buying lenses, now I have another on my radar lol.

My poor D700 is going to be very lonely lol…..Even a couple of fashion shoots I have coming up I am going to try the OM-D :)

    NIce shots.
I had problems with the OM-D E-M5 and Panasonic 100-300 with American Le Mans Series.
The cars were a little faster than those saloon cars :)
When it did manage focus, it also slowed down burst mode on the OM-D.
But I had little success in continuous AF mode.
The lens seems slower than the camera is capable of focussing.

great shots of the wheel to wheel action coming out of the chicanes. Did you use SF or CF auto focus? How did you find the focal lengths?

I hope to take the OMD out to a race sometime. either Indycar or something up at Austin. I missed F1 this year.
