So I took my OMD out for its first shoot yesterday, using the 12-50mm kit lens. I hadn't planned on this lens being very good, but I was pleasantly surprised!!

We just got the first rain in weeks so the flowers were soaking it up. Thought it'd be a good time to take a walk and see what popped up...

Grats on the E-M5 - great first outing.

I like primes, but I am kicking myself for not grabbing the kit. It seems like a great, flexible lens, especially with the macro.

Nice shots. I love the ivy -- weird and wonderful shapes.

The 12-50mm kit zoom gets a bad rap, but it's a perfectly decent lens with very useful capabilities, and that you can take out after the rain and not have to worry if it's going to start up again. Just because a lens isn't the very best optic in terms of resolved lines per millimeter does not mean that it cannot produce stunning images, especially if you're not going to print the 30x40 inch or better size that 100% pixel peeping corresponds to.

I love my E-M5. Glad you like yours. Enjoy!
