Perhaps that viewfinder flip-trick that Fuji is using in their newest camera?

More than a few people have found that little feature nifty.

cool times ahead for EVF's it seems... making the OVF look more and more "outdated"...

    What I wouldn't do for a 38Mbps+ video codec ...

Yeah I'd assume it's the flip trick of the Fuji.

Firmware Update soon for OM series

Wasn't the OM series discontinued years ago?

I can't even find the USB port on my OM1. Hmm...

On the latest Fuji mirrorless camera, when you flip the camera into portrait mode, the status information in the viewfinder splits and drops to the bottom instead of staying "sideways" along one side. Also, anything in the field of vision flips to remain upright so you're not reading anything sideways.

Yea, my money is on the flipped view as well. Though I'd love some cool MF assist, simulated split-prism for instance. Don't really care for peaking...

True. This is a feature that I have been missing since selling VF-2.

On the EM-5, I just press the button on the side of the viewfinder while reviewing an image and it displays it on the EVF.

You can already do that - put your eye to the EVF and press play!

Neither works for me. If I am looking in the EVF and press play, the EVF turns off and the LCD goes on. If I press the EVF switch while reviewing, nothing happens.

I *think* the EVF has to be set on auto sensor?

The 'flip trick' sounds cool but my guess is something else.

I suspect that they are going to allow users to show a combination of 'info' settings in the EVF. So currently say that you want 'blinklies' and the level guage to show in the EVF at the same time it isnt possible. You have to switch between views. I dont think it would require much change to allow you to see several info settings at once.

I have mine on auto sensor, but also just tried turning off the auto sensor. Lo and behold, it then works... in a convoluted manner. I can do Play button (LCD) -> EVF button (EVF). a) I use the auto sensor, and b) the LCD still turns on initially every time (not ideal if you don't want people next to you to see, or you don't want so much glare at night), so it's still no go for me.

yep. one of my few complains is just that it *defaults* to LCD playback.

Yes but during shooting you do get the review image in the finder if you remove your finger from the shutter button. It'll stay up as long as you set it for. If you keep your finger on the shutter button half-pressed you'll never see the review image.
