I am thrilled to say that I finally found a local E-M5 and we have spent the past few hours getting to know each other. I have to say that I thought the menus on my E-PL2 were complicated when I bought it a few years ago, but the E-M5 has proven even more challenging. I'm certainly not complaining--I knew there would be a learning curve.

I've only taken a few test shots in my living room, in really poor light, but am still thrilled with these initial results. Low light performance on this camera is so much better than what I'm used to, and even what I was expecting. I would pretty much put the E-PL2 away once the sun went down, but no more! The E-M5 will be out and about in the evening as well as during the day. Here are two of the bad shots I took this evening:

    PB040003.

    PB040002.

I know these are terrible, but I'm simply thrilled with them and can't wait to get out to take some real pictures. I feel a sick day or two coming up.

I am perplexed by a few of the buttons not working as expected. I'm off to search the forum for answers and will hopefully not bug anyone too much here for info on getting the most out of my new baby.

I'm guessing the previous owner has remapped buttons and configured things their way and didn't do a factory reset before selling?

Congratulations, I am sure that you are going to enjoy it at some point. It is worth getting to grips with the menus and all the weird possibilities, once you got it set up to your liking, it gets a lot easier (took me six month or so, but now I can do most things without even looking at the buttons the camera).

Congratulations! Since you've been using an E-PL2 before, it shouldn't be too difficult for you to get familiar with the new camera. They do share the basic user interface after all. All you need to do now is to do a factory reset and start from there. I'm sure you will have full control over the camera in no time!

I attempted a reset but that didn't seem to help. I'll be playing with it some more before crying out for help. :)

I did the reset and am beginning to get it (although I haven't set
any custom buttons yet). I was just in the back yard using my legacy,
Nikon 180mm / 2.8 ED and the addition of IBIS is all that I had
    hoped for!

Lovely shots hodad66. I can see you're going to pull some great results out of the E-M5.

Wonderful shots! I have not been able to get out and shoot. My day was too busy today, but I work from home tomorrow which will allow a little more freedom. :)
