Film emulation or...?

    I'm seeing this more and more among the really good photogs on Flickr, 500px and elsewhere. Wondering what these folks are using..Is it like a VSCO preset (I'm guessing not) or just bending of the curves? Here are some examples..

    There's more going on than a simple VSCO preset in my opinion. That said, the first three have nice colour, but that's all. They're too clean to look like film. While the last one is an amazing portrait, the technical issues hold it back.
    Don't forget that recently Sony and DxO gave away FilmPack3 for free that emulates lots of classical colour and b&w negative film. And quite good I must add - better than VSCO. I figure that lots of those that grabbed it, use it to some extent - even though it's a b*tch to implement in ones LR workflow :mad:
