Few macros from the Western ghats of India

Just concluded a macro tour of the richly biodiverse Agumbe, located in the Western ghats, was leading the tour as a macro mentor.

Sorry @Hayath, but your photo confuses me. There appears to be 2 parts, with one attached to the lens. Can you show a more revealing angle of that part. I'm sure it is not covering the front lens element - as it appears to be in that photo.

The container attached to the flash acts as first level of diffusion helping spread the loght. The "shield" on the lens goes around the front element.

Yes, triggered the flash using a cactus v2

but tell me, aren't PIT VIPERS really poisonous.....are you just brave or are you shooting with a telephoto at a distance?

I have found the "amateur" spec 35-100mm Lumix zoom at about 80mm and the pop-up flash as "fill-in" balanced for the background light is great for butterflies in meadows ....but deadly snakes are a whole new level !

Had just the 60mm macro with me, was about a foot away from the viper. This viper was very relaxed, used the front of the diffuser as a shield as i went close, looking for any signs of aggression/attack
