Faststone Image Viewer updated to 4.7

    This has to be my favourite piece of free software of all time and has just been updated to V4.7 making it Win 8 compatible amongst other things.

    Although I have Photoshop and Lightroom I still use this as my quick viewer and it has a surprising amount of editing power too.

    just noticed they have updated to v4.8

    is it faster on loading ORF? Otherwise it's my favorite program besides LR :)

    Not really. It's the nature of ORF files that is the issue.

    Thanks. If folks aren't familiar with this program, in my opinion (YMMV) the single most excellently superbly great feature of it is that you can take a bunch (like, hundreds) of exports from Lightroom and use FSV to bulk rename them so that they will open in the correct order with other programs.

    There are probably many other benefits, but this one would be worth a lot if you need to do that.

    I've been using Faststone image viewer as my default viewer for years. I used to use Irfanstone. But Fastone's caches your thumbnails which makes opening folders very quickly.

    Yeah its the quickness of FastStone that I like.
    I tell you it's pretty slow to open G3 RAWs though :(
