Fastone 4.5 when Lightroom is set as external editor wont launch the chosen image into LR
    Anyone using this Combo
Fastone as a browser is excellent
Using 64bit LR and windows 7

Heh, my 'E'dit is set up for a very old PainShopPro ... version 4 I think.
The reason is that Lightroom starts up so behemothly slowly it is absolutely useless for the quick edit jobs. Photoshop is the same.
Also, Lightroom has a freaky multi-step method for importing : it is better for doing the whole contents of a card at once. This freaky import is likely to be fudging up FastStone's 'E'dit behaviour.

I've just upgraded to FS 4.5 and it kept my two external editors (PS & LR) which are working fine. (Win 7 64 bit).

    Thanks Bill whats the secret
I have the same setup that you have
PS is no problem when launching a file thru' Fastone its LR thats the headache

I wonder if its a setting in LR because if I launch a file from Fastone for editing in LR first the last dir. appears THEN it proceeds to import and yes the folder where the file is pope up but the file is not ticked

When you do it from Fastone does the "actual" file appear in LR ready to be edited

Yes I think its LR's fudgy import
Perhaps there is an LR setting
But yes it tries to IMPORT not EDIT the darn file
    PS CS5 is fine ;-)

This is a feature of LR that it must import every file before you can edit it because unlike PS it always works non-destructively.

I like the download feature of FS too. If I use it I go to LR and synchronize the folders first before editing. This effectively imports the images. I'm trying to use LR to import to get around this issue. I often crop and straighten in FS but I then have to sync the folder again.

    Thanks Bill

I understand the LR import thing
I removed LR and all the stuff in \roaming dir
    Cleaned out the registry
    Fresh install of LR
Fastone will edit some jpegs and not other's any RAW
Pany or Oly NO it merely opens the relevant folder where the file is.
    Given up :frown:
