It's the fasting month in the Muslim calender. And in my district, the town council have allocated places where the food stalls are set up where the people can buy food for the breaking of fast.

For more information on the Fasting month, please read here..Ramadan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I was at the bazaar in the evening.

This is the Malaysian of the Murtabak. (read more here) It's a think spread of flour where a mixture of meat and eggs are laid on. they are then cooked and then again wrapped with that thin layer of flour.

Thanks so much for these, Blu - you're making me very hungry with all of these photos! That one of the "jovial stall man" is wonderful! The others are very good for giving us a "taste" of what the bazaar is like, great colors and details but this one of your happy stall man is a real winner.:bravo-009:

Thanks BBW. it was the colors that compel me to shoot there. Else it was just the draw of the food. Sort of like an annual pilgrimage there. BTW, I am not a muslim..but I enjoy the food.

Same thing here in Singapore, Blu. Low prices and very lively after office hours :) Local groups here are already planning for a late night photo shoot tomorrow night and on friday.

Thanks for sharing!

Please do share it here. It would be interesting to know how it's done just across the border.
As for ours, they close the bazaar around 7.30 and by 8pm, it's deserted.

BBW, I am more of a travel/holiday photographer. I hardly carry my camera around for shoots unless there is a specific occasion. Like that bakery and this bazaar. So you may have a long wait :D My coming travel plans are in Nov to Guangzhou, China and January to Korea. After that, it's cold storage till the end of 2011.

Good food indeed! :bravo-009:

I was in KL for about two weeks until the 5th of September and a friend of mine took me to a bazaar in TTDI to grab some food to eat for buka-puasa (hope I got the term right). I was about to post some pictures I took during my holiday... thanks for starting this!

On a slightly similar note... I grew up in Manila and your bazaar reminds me of what we have during the Christmas festivities.

I'm missing all the wonderful treats already!

Yes djmo, you got that term and spelling right. "Buka" means open and "Puasa" means fasting. It literally means break of fasting.

Please do post up what you have taken. Different parts have different atmosphere even if it's the same festival or event.
