#1150 Finds Us Boring - L'Herm, France - Chemin de Stevenson-2018-36 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Mop top #1150 wasn't that impressed with our interest in her and went back to snoozing in the afternoon sun.

Grapes, I believe, on Old Mission Penisula, Traverse City, Michigan. (wow that was a lot of commas for such a short sentence!)

wrapping in plastic
this is a fascinating machine with a unique sound that carries for miles.
The bale is loaded by the trailer, spun around whilst the wrapper weaves the covering, then it stops, clips the plastic and rolls it gently onto the ground.
When it left here we could here it on another farm a couple of km away

The Domes by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Once known as the ‘Dolly Twins’ but today referred to as The Domes are rather four unusual grain storage domes at the Cooperative Bulk Handling (CBH) in Goomalling.

The concrete domes, created in 1994, can store 44,000 tonnes of grain. Each dome is 39.6m in diameter and 19.8m high, in a perfect half-sphere. Walls are 350mm thick at the base graduated to 125mm at the top centre of the dome.

Farm Cart by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

A common sight in many Western Australian country towns is old farm machinery. In Dowerin one of these pieces is this horse-drawn farm cart from yesteryear.

The ingenuity of farmers is amazing. The builder of this tobacco harvesting cart had a good imagination. This carried 9 laborers. 4 "Primers" picked the ripe leaves and handed them across to 4 "Loopers" or "Stringers" who tied the leaves to sticks. They then handed the sticks a string boy who stacked the bundles on a pallet on the rear forks.

Windmill by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

A common sight in the more remote areas of Western Australia on the outback stations. Windmills a simple but effective means of providing water for the cattle. This one was at a marshalling yard.

Fly blown - Chemin de Stevenson-2018-D2-30 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Cows resting in the late afternoon heat, the heat really kicked in around 3:00 PM so I don't blame these cows for taking a nanna nap. Unfortunately, we couldn't join them, with our climb to Preyssac and then our destination for the day, Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas still to be completed. Our accommodation at Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas got a little worried about us as we didn't arrive till after 7:00 PM. They thought we had got lost!

The fence and the wall - Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas - Chemin de Stevenson-2018-D3-03 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

For a while heading out of Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas the Chemin de Stevenson [GR70] took us through farmlands. This fence and wall caught my eye as we wondered pass. A combination of old and new approaches to stock management.
