I've seen a video and I've read advice that suggests that at high ISO, increasing the exposure and then adjusting it during post will result in less noise. What I find confusing is that in order to increase the exposure by, say, two stops (and keeping shutter speed and aperture constant, shutter speed being already as low as reasonable, and aperture being a fully open lens or as required for depth of field) one needs to correspondingly increase ISO by two stops. So the implication is that, on balance, the noise will be less even at the higher ISO, which sounds rather paradoxical to me. What do I misunderstand? Many thanks for any illumination.
