I upgraded my G5 just before Christmas; I wasn't sure if the GX8 would be a worthy upgrade, despite getting it as a great deal for $750AUD. I needn't have worried, I'm very very happy with the camera. The most noticeable improvements for me are the metering and the default colours; I find the metering is much more accurate and the camera is nailing exposure when in A or S modes. This was a snap for a lovely afternoon on the beach in Danang. It was my favourite pic from the holiday, and the afternoon sun made for a great colour.

Decided to take the Gx8 rather than the G9 for a quick wander.

Panasonic, if you are reading this, please build me a Gx8ii. Don't change the size, or the formfactor. I don't mind if you don't change the sensor. Just add the better Ibis, better shutter and if you can squeeze it in, an AF joystick. I'll buy at least two. It's just a great camera to use and carry.

Getting ready for an in town photo shoot today, and I agree with Saladin that ( for me) the Gx8 form and function is very special. So special that no other camera really fits my particular needs and I'm not sure if there is no Gx8 II what my next camera will be. For everything but birding I might go a second generation of PenF.....or maybe a Fuji with something like the 12-35mm.

The Pana 20mm, I think my favourite m43 lens of all time. I love that little beauty.

I second that emotion, and my runner-up is a Minolta MD 50/2 (MDIII) wide-open "The Japanese Sumikron"

Have not shot many stills with this lens, but it does that that "je ne sais quoi".
