Trying something new that is different from my usual black and white street shots. Going for a wider crop and see how it looks. It definitely looks better on full screen or on a TV, otherwise it just looks a bit small.

    1. This one is probably my favorite of the set. Printed it large 30x20 with Shutterfly and looks pretty decent considering it was only $8.

    2. This one is my second favorite. It kind of looks like a film to me.

    3. This guy looks kind of funny. He seems to also carry a book on his chest.

Are you shooting 16:8 which is the same as 2:1, or are you shooting 16:9 which is the ratio of a wide screen TV? 16:8 would give you a narrow black bar top and bottom of a wide screen TV while 16:9 would fill the screen exactly.

Just asking because I've never heard of anyone using 16:8.

I also started to crop 16:9 some months ago. For me, this is sometimes much better. I even like it because a lot of people are browsing the web with mobile devices which are 16:9 (except the tablets).

For example my photos, which were used in the When They Wake music video "Change the World" are all in 16:9. This was sometimes a challenge:

Also some of my latest photos from Marrakech are in 16:9

You should definitely try new formats. Also read this blog article about aspect ratios: Format versus Aspect Ratio… ‹ Eye 5
