The Elite is distinguished primarily by the "leather-like" texture of the body skin compared the woven quasi-carbon fiber skin of the "regular" E-M5. It also is supposed to have larger dials, but in comparing images of the cameras, I don't see it...if they're larger it's not by much. Other than that, everything else about the camera is unchanged.

$500 is a good price for this kit. For $100 more you might also consider the newer E-M10, which is slightly smaller, but adds WiFi connectivity, a sharper rear screen, and built-in flash and intervalometer. The trade off is that the E-M10 has just 3-axis image stabilization on the sensor (compared to the E-M5's 5-axis IS) and is not weather-sealed.

  3. Bigger shutter button, different "skin", more durable paint finish.

Did they de-mushify the buttons on the Elite?

No! The buttons are still as mushy as they intended in the first place.
