I thought there was a shortcut of long-pressing one of the buttons to switch the touch display option on or off, but I can't find it anymore. Do you know?

The button to the left of the viewfinder.

However, the EVF seems to stay on, and some say it has a heavy drain.

I saw an article claiming the E-M5 can have a button mapped to turn off the lcd backlight, but I haven't seen that option on the E-M1.

The down arrow and perhaps either the left or right arrow (can't remember which) can be assigned to turn the touchscreen on and off, although I don't understand why it should need a long press to do so rather than a quick single press. Of course you can turn off the touchscreen by toggling the soft button on the bottom left of the screen, but I have it happen before on hot days where the camera bouncing against my chest has managed to press the soft button to turn the touchscreen back on and then subsequently start taking images with the touch shutter.

I guess we're talking about 2 different things:

1. turning off the LCD completely (and keeping the EVF on)

2. disabling the touch function on the LCD, but the LCD stays on (or auto)
