Camera manufacturers are very generous during lunch of their upcoming flag ships.
they encourage you to shoot with your current gear and test and compare with theirs.

it actually could work, if the current gear really falls behind their flag ship.
But if the current gear is capable and add that to familiarity of the user.
it is hard to beat the current gear.

that is what happened when I tried Nikon Z, Canon Eos R, Fuji XH-1 and XT30 for the past 6 months.
and this week the same happened with the Panasonic S1.

The first Group is taken with the Olympus Pen F + 75mm 1.8 (MFT)
The 2nd Group us taken with the Panasonic S1 + 12 to 105 f/4 (Full Frame)

My Personal Findings:
A camera lens combo lens you are familiar with can be equally or more enjoyable and capable than much more expensive system.
So let go of your fears of missing out let go of your GAS. Because cameras nowadays are all enjoyable.
So focus on our techniques and Enjoy this hobby.

This week, I tagged along Sifu when he shoots his Singer song writer friends doing a free event in the Mall.
It was a very relaxing night of music and being surrounded by creative people.

Without Sifu my weekends are unproductive and Dull.
He saved my Sunday from being benched and weak to Going around and Refreshed, Energized and Inspired.

The Light was challenging.
Today, I learned that the Microphone of the singers being gray is a good point to set Auto WB during post. in addition to spotting white and neutral
items on the subjects clothes. The Lighting changes and very tricky.

ISO 1600 still produced Great Images with usable Shutter Speeds.

Things Are slowing down at work...
Never had this peace of mind for almost 9 years.
Had a chance to shoot the past 2 weekends.

Today, I got the privilege of Joining Robin and Tobias on the street photography in Pudu.
And shoot with Robins 25mm 1.2.

After a week of being stuck in the office and in my apartment...
it is such a nice way to spend a Sunday
Walking and sweating wearing a smile meeting asking people for photos.

Sharing them the results and showing them how beautiful they are... Despite the language barrier, we share short laughs...
Then Breathing air with smells of Market produce, i feel alive.

Then having Breakfast, lunch and coffee with this amazing guys.. All of us Yapping about topics that ranges from Movies to common you tubers we follow to Food.
Best day of the week.

Every time I think I need more gear, I'm going to revisit this thread. It is the best cure for GAS that I have seen. My bank account thanks you and so do I.

When i got to touch and try events like the lates Fuji XT30, Panasonic S1R, Nikon Z1, Canon EOS-R... I test them side by side with my current gear...
I appreciate my gear more... specially the lenses...

I end up happier ...

There are no more bad cameras out there....
only great lenses...

1.) PLATE
The plate Logo "CAFFE CREAM" is intentionally placed upwards to be easily read.

2.) CUP
The Coffee Cup ear is intentionally placed to be on the 6 O'clock position.

3.) TABLE
The coffee is placed in diagonal with the 3 planks of wood.
Notice the center plank is burned and scarred while the other outer planks are smooth and plain. we placed the plate in the scarred and burned plank to give emphasis on the coffee. the Planks creates line 1 and line 2 to emphasize the coffee.

4.) FRAME
The composition is made in such a way that the plate have equal gaps in the top right, bottom and left of the frame.
All the lines and the spaces help promote symmetry and Emphasis...

to many this is just a cup of coffee... to me it is a combination of Karate Moves LOL....

1.) PLATE
The Plate the Bowl and the Table
I placed in such a way that the upper diameter is touching each other. All the lines puts emphasis on the Duck.
The Bowl is rotated in such a way that Duck is placed on the TOP acting as if the CROWN Jewel. Aperture of f/3.5 is used to make the Duck in Focus but the others out of focus.
using a smaller aperture is also OK.. to get all in focus..

2.) TABLE & WALL
The table here is a simple clean non distracting element, so we use the edge lines to lead

the wall on the other hand is

a nice ballanced gray with one side in the light and the other on the shadows. again we use the line it created to "LEAD" towards the DUCK.

This is all about the DUCK ... Hehehe

The Foot Stride is Attractive.

Thank you for taking time to go thru the post.
I am continuously adding latest shoots here.
Next week Mr. Robin Wong is letting Me, Van, and Sim tag along and shoot some dressed rehearsal (Concert).
Time to try our skills on Fast Phase action on Low and tricky lighting conditions...

On thing I'am sure of, my ISO will fly high and my Aperture Wide Open.
My WB will be all over the place.

As long as its a shoot with robin, it is for sure an awesome day.

The following shots are EM1X but this shot can be easily achieved by my Pen-F (it will struggle) but it can..
having said that the EM1X EVF is so freaking good, the camera is so responsive, the file transfer is lightning fast.

For Product Photography, I angle I always go for is full frontal with a slight tilt up angle.
The Aim is to make the Subject look larger than life. The camera is close to the base/table
the lines of the table helped to lead the lines towards the subject. Normally I would choose a less busy background but in this case I chose poorly.

Robin asked the group to take poses, and one of the is to raise their hands.
So I waited patiently for them to raise up and once their hands reach peak. I took a couple of frames. I had 4 frames, this one had them hands up and full smile.

I always try to make both eyes in the frame and some separation between the mike and the lips. which ever is possible. For a front third shot.. this is ok for me.
I tried to include in the frame her arms. I shot RAW so I can adjust the White Balance more easier. I let the blue rim light and background prevail as it was the actual lighting there.

This is a complete side angle. I caught a moment when Bihzhu is hitting the high note.
This means mike is going out, and she is full steam output...

In this and the following shot, I aim to emphasize the huge concert Hall, and her presence trying to fill the room. it gives the sense of intimacy. her hand position is vert natural, one holding the stand on the lower side and another holding the mike.
Her leg position creates a triangle that improves proportion.
