I'm having trouble focusing with manual lenses, looking for help.

I have "magnify" on fn 2. I also want to engage the IS but when doing so (by half pressing the shutter) the magnifying disappear. So, it's either magnified and shaky or no magnify and stable...

How can I get magnified with IS in MF?

Use the super control panel and set IS to 1. you can then push f2 to magnify...

IS is set to 1 already...
fn2 magnifies ok but when I press the shutter it goes back to normal view...

Have you got "Half Way Rls With IS" set?

I haven't got the camera here atm but I'm pretty shure I do. I know it used to be so...I need to double check when I get home.

So, it should work like I want, right?

Maybe some settings have changed while I was not looking

The setting you're looking for is in Menu D -> "LV Close Up Mode" -> "Mode 2". That will keep the magnified view on even if the shutter is half-pressed. Hope that helps!

  7. On the E-P5 (and presumably other later models) you can get the IS to engage as soon as you enter the magnified view without having to hold the shutter button half-way. With this setup you can have the camera return to the full image view upon half-pressing the shutter button (still with IS engaged). I don't believe that the same is possible on the E-M5. As the others have said the camera needs to remain in the magnified view until the shutter release to have magnification and IS working at the same time.

    Ok, just checked my settings

IS is set to 1 in the SCP
"Half Way Rls With IS" is on

    BUT

"LV Close Up Mode" was in Mode 1
Changing it to Mode 2 did the trick! Now it works the way I want

It would be even better if it worked as described by Luckypenguin. Maybe in a future FW update

    Thanks for the help!
