Whenever I take a picture I seem to get the preview (?) of it in the viewfinder for just a moment. It is like the live view stops, the picture flashes into view and then the action resumes in the viewfinder. Might anyone have a clue as to what I may have changed to cause this?

Menu -> Spanner menu (Setup menu) -> Rec View -> Off.

Yep, probably set to 0.5 seconds now, from what you described.

Right... I forget American English is different sometimes. (Spanner from the German root meaning draw tight, Wrench is the action of moving the spanner)

Thanks! That was the issue. Hard part is coming to grips with the thought that someone was able to sneak into my house and change this setting without me suspecting anything. I saw nothing out of the ordinary, no evidence to speak of.
    But...Thanks for the help.

0.5s is the default, according to my memory and to biofos.com.

If you had turned it off before, a major firmware update could have reset it.
