Electronic shutter

    Does anyone know why they use electronic shutters sparingly, they even use it sparingly for compacts!

    Probably the most obvious issue is readout speed. Since not every pixel can usually be read at the same time, you get wobble and distortion from motion (the 'jello' effect in DSLR video is one artifact of this). Full fix requires the addition of a lot of expensive circuitry.
