Having a separate bank account for eBay would be OK except that I do so little selling that I'd probably run into fees for not meeting a minimum average balance.

There's nowhere for me to migrate to here in the US other than Craigslist or maybe Facebook Marketplace. I mostly sell musical instruments and the main competition to eBay is a music selling site called Reverb, but they also require bank accounts for payments, so I'm not interested.

Unfortunately, you do.

Whenever ebay 'simplify' anything, it means you will probably pay more for it.

In the 'benefits' section, note that they neglect to say that sellers of low value items and those who previously used paypal micropayments are now paying rather more in fees and same day access to funds is no longer possible.

Giving ebay complete control of your money (it really is YOUR money from YOUR customer rather than ebay's customer) isn't progress.
I only ever sell when there is a £1 fees deal, so it is better for me. I can stand waiting a couple of days for payment. The camera I sold last week did indeed just have £1 removed from the selling amount.

Good info. I pay and print separate from eBay, but either way it sounds like the seller has to front those costs now if you want to ship in quick fashion...or up your handling time, which I think I’ll be doing.

Find yourself a good credit union. Mine doesnt charge anything for what they call a basic "e-checking" account. I have been using it for a few years now because of Paypal. So I just attached that account to Ebay as well.
