My brother has the E-PL1 and I want to get the E-PL2 now since I was so impressed with his camera. Can we exchange these lenses?

Sure, the EPL-2 is simply the latest model in the product line. They both use the identical m43 mount.

There is only minor difference between the two bodies. The sensor is the same.

epl-2 puts the ability to use a cable release, a unusable 6400iso, 1/4000 shutter speed, and a dial vs the 4 point keypad and 1 more art filter.

But the big difference is the kit lens, optically they are suppose to be the same, but the epl-2 comes with a msc lens, so it AF a bit faster.

So as a upgrade to epl-1 the epl-2 is not worth the added cost. But for a new buyer. The added features are nice to have.
