Is it possible to take pictures using multiple focus points? I know how to set the focus, but whenever I leave it on all of the focus points, it automatically chooses one point instead. Is this par for the course w/these types of cameras? (forgive me, I'm coming from a p&s and just trying to learn). Or, instead of using multiple points of focus, I just have to figure out the appropriate aperture setting to get more than one person/object in focus?

Any tips would be much appreciated!

I think thats by design (if I'm reading your description properly).

You have an array of focal points and the AF scans through them and latches on to one of them (the thing it thinks you want in focus).

The other option is to set single focus point - it then uses that all the time (usually people pick the centre point).
