    HI Everyone,

    I just purchased the Olympus Zuiko 17mm 1.8 lens.
    I purchased a UV filter for this.

    I am wondering if it is necessary to get a lens hood for this lens.
    I've seen some comment that it is not necessary...

    Appreciate your thoughts!

    Is it necessary? Depends on your style of shooting and storage. I hate lens caps so when out and about I leave the hood mounted so I can quickly pull it out of the bag, ready to shoot. No fumbling with a lens cap and the hood keeps the front element from rubbing against my bag and clothing. Plus, protection against doggie noses, greasy fingers, raindrops and maybe even stray light beams. Plus it looks cool: kinda like a goth mini skirt on yo' Oly,

    The OEM LH-48B hood is nice but at $60 silly expensive. I use a metal Leica knockoff and it's pretty dad burn nice for seven George Washingtons:
