Each day I'm always on the search for a good picture for my PAD blog here on mu-43. Today I ventured into Edinburgh to see the Fringe Festival street performers. I've attached three of my favourite pictures from today.

The last two photographs I converted to b/w and increased the contrast a little pp to give it an old science fiction movie type feel.

All taken with my e-pl1 and 45-200mm Lumix lens.

Thanks for looking.

Excellent conversion

I returned to a spot I had visited earlier in the summer which the view was obstructed by a thick marine layer. I think the haze made for a less than clean shot but glad there was an ocean view this time around.

The structures with various colors along the shoreline are lifeguard towers that have been painted as part of the Portraits of Hope/Summer of Color art project. The LAX airport control tower is also visible off in the distance.

I have to say, that turned out to be somewhat disconcerting, but I guess it explains the attachment:).

First contribution here

Hi all,

It has been a while since I joined the group. I have been a silent reader for the past few months. So now I want to share with you all some of my photos that I took with my E-PL1.

1) Taken with 14-42mm. With a bit of PP just to play with the color.

Besides seeing really wonderful photos here, I so enjoy seeing such a diversity in styles, subject matter and locations!

Thanks so much to everyone. Even though I don't always have the time to actually comment, I'm very appreciative of everyone's photos.

Johnny, thanks for that breath of fresh air from Wisconsin. And faidz85, many thanks for yours - I like the way you pp-ed with the color very much. Beautiful little girl.:flowers_2:

Classic! And the beginnings of a great commercial:

Some guy talks about the product they are selling, let's say Kleenex, while this image is showing. The story makes you feel sorry for the poor guy on the Vespa, wanting a Kleenex to wipe his tears. At the end of the commercial, three skinny/geeky guys go out, 1 by 1, and drive off on the Hogs. Finally, Big Bubba in his black leathers walks into the scene and goes away on his Vespa, while crying...

This caught my eye in the parking lot at work.... The Wild Bunch

I like the soft light in those lighthouse photos. Is that a Norfolk pine casting a shade pattern on the lighthouse?

The Edinburgh Fringe

Must say I am loving this thread ... lots of inspiring shots.

I'm adding some more from the Edinburgh Fringe taken over the weekend with my e-pl1 and 45-200mm lumix lens.

Shinobi your pics are stunning. Can you share what lens you used for those?

Thanks, twalker294 :).

The lens I used was a Canon EF 135mm f/2 lens. Not very useful info I'm afraid, as it is a modern lens that I just share on my E-PL1 from my Canon camera. Can only be shot wide open at f/2 so all these pics are at f/2, at or near the minimum focusing distance of 0.9m.

Anyway, this shows one advantage of m4/3. I wanted to use a macro lens, but I had no tripod and it's really tough without one. So I used the 135mm. Bokeh/dof is the same even if I shot it on full frame, but the subjects would be too tiny in the resulting pictures. With 2x on m4/3, the subject size is just fine.

You could try one of your Nikon lenses I guess.

Thanks shinobi. Actually it's quite useful as I am a Canon DSLR shooter as well (I have a 40D and 10D.) I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of results I can get from my Canon lenses on the E-PL1, especially my 80-200/2.8L and 17-40/4L.

What kind of EOS adapter do you have and what did you pay for it?

Thanks
Todd

Todd, I bought mine on impulse, it was a holiday and there was only one shop open that had the adapter. So I just bought it and crossed my fingers, US$ 74, made in China probably, I can't remember the brand. Luckily, it works perfectly and no problems. US$74 is not the usual $30++, so I guess it is a better make.

However, if I was not buying on impulse, I would have chosen the RJ brand which I already am familiar with. Also made in China, but excellent so far, and I also use the RJ brand, among others, for Leica M, R, and Zeiss C/Y lenses to mount into m4/3.
