I just noticed that one of the local stores I visit time to time has advertised on their website Olympus E-PL1 + 14-42mm for $199. I haven't ordered from them via phone or website but I've purchased several things from them in person.

It says that the deal expires on 12-24.

Wow, wish I was based in the U.S. to be able to avail of this great bargain! I've never had an Olympus before and this would have been a good way to have a 2nd body without spending too much :)

Wow! Tempting. The E-PL1 is the last Pen with ISO 100, and has the sharpest 12MP sensor and JPEGs.

Is there any comparisons that show this? My E-PL2 jpegs look sharper (weaker AA Filter?) than my E-PM1 jpegs . I couldn't imagine how much sharper the E-PL1 jpegs are!

See my post here for actual samples that seem to indicate the E-PL1 is the KING of all PENS (in terms of resolution of fine detail):
Which PEN has the sharpest, most detailed IQ?

That's comparing with the E-P3, I'm talking about the E-PL2. My E-PL2 has sharper jpeg output than my E-PM1. How does the E-PL2 compare to the E-PL1?

Bummer! They only ship to Canada or the states and not worldwide. Id pay for 199.99 for the camera and the kit lens and a lil extra for the shipping to asia. *I really wish to get this cheap package for my lil cousin as a christmas gift* :(

    Check for yourself and decide
Studio shot comparison: Digital Photography Review

To my eyes, the E-PL1 @ ISO 100 & 200 resolves a little more detail than the E-PL2 and even beats the Canon T2i, T3i, 60D and 7D! (which is why I sold my T3i after I bought my E-PL1 last September).

see and decide for yourself. Samples exist for both. For me, the Epl1 is pretty darn good in good light... just a bit too slow AF

The E-PL2 JPEGs may be as good. The newer generation ones definitely aren't.

However, the main thing is that at ISO 100, you're basically free of chroma noise in the shadows. The E-PL2 has no ISO 100, nor do any of the newer models, and ISO 200 isn't nearly as clean.

Downside of the E-PL1 of course is the clunky controls.

Oh no, I bought this on impulse... I didn't want this body or lens... I was just settling on the G3+14mm. Damn forums :)

didn't get mine.they sent an e-mail saying that a computer glitch posted an expired rebate and the 199.00 was the incorrect price.
