Just saw it at their Japanese site
The issue of the buttons not working when the Monitor (Touch screen) is touched while using the Electronic viewfinder has been resolved.
The issue of the AF target not displaying while using the Eye-Fi card has been resolved."
Updating mine as I type.
The website is here: Joint update service for OLYMPUS E-SYSTEM - OLYMPUS Digital Camera
It addresses the following issues:
-The issue of the buttons not working when the Monitor (Touch screen) is touched while using the Electronic viewfinder has been resolved.
-The issue of the AF target not displaying while using the Eye-Fi card has been resolved.
I appreciate all the guinea pigs... er I mean first firmware update adopters!
Installed. Don't have an eye-fi card so can't test the second point but I do have a VF-2 and touching the touch screen while the viewfinder is in use doesn't lock up any controls as far as I can see.
Pizza mandolino here.
I would appreciate a FW update to let choosing focus with my nose while looking through the VF.
Looks like we FINALLY have a fix for the touchscreen/EVF bug!

Do you think we'll get an update for the 45mm 1.8 at some point?
went well if somewhat slow with a 100mB connection probably server traffic
It took ~ 8minutes.
Remove SD card
Do nothing as the rotating circle indicates downloading
The LCD will be black.
WAIT till the Graphic appears on the LCD
WAIT TILL you see OK on the LCD
pull the cable
switch camera off
choose > NEXT< to exit Olympus web site
Firmware is now
Body v 1.1
Lens (Kit 14-42) v1.1
Is there any point to this update if you're using the VF3, which doesn't seem to have the problem and not using EyeFi cards?
It seems to me this would be an unnecessary update for many of us.
I was happy at the sight of this news, but I'm actually underwhelmed.
I was looking for that "noise reduction = off really means off" update.
I also would have loved to see an update allowing the focus on Fn2. How in the hell have they been able to overlook that, it would just have been the most natural position for the feature!
do all of the ep3s have this problem. i haven't had a problem so far and i'm scared to update because it just told me that i can't reverse this. (i'm of the if it ain't broke crowd) now i'm sucking my thumb, rocking back and forth unable to pull the trigger. i never had an olympus camera that required an update, only outdated stuff.
are u sure u dont have the problem regarding the touchscreen (with EVF and also without EVF)?
but this update only fixed the EVF with touchscreen bug which in my case, i own no EVF
btw, i've just updated mine, everything is in the flow, nothing new because i can't really test them, own no EVF or eye-fi. but i just prefer to get my stuff all updated..cheers
Updated without problem.
I just used Olympus Viewer 2 to update via my MBPro. went flawlessly, updating both the camera and the 17/2.8 to 1.1
#1 rule about firmware updates: if you're not personally affected by the firmware fix, don't do it.
Good rule...I wasn't affected by the VF2/touch screen bug but I did the update anyways. Now my Panny 20mm is clicking more than before and even the 14mm is clicking.
thanks. i won't. i don't have a viewfinder or wifi card.
It sounds good in theory. Unfortunately manufacturers often include fixes that they don't mention, for things they hope their customers haven't even noticed yet. Yes, there is a small risk involved with each firmware update, but overall it's a good idea to keep your gear current, much like your computer. Today's cameras are computers after all.
