Keep your eyes on the hot-shoe cover, I took my camera out of my mag and the cover was lying on the ground.

I've taken it off completely now.

First thing I do when I get any new camera is toss those back in the box anyway, so no worries here! :)

Whoops! Just checked and mine's already gone! More annoyingly, I've either lost or misplaced the flash too (and I hadn't even used the flash)!

  4. I removed both the hotshoe cover and the trim piece that covers the accessory port.

Lost mine on day two. Since all my cameras were without hot shoe covers, I ordered 10 from ebay. They seem nice and snug, and even if I lose them, 10 should last me a while.

No problem here, though, with the trim piece protecting the port.

I also lost the hot shoe cover once already. Then found it.

I'd imagine any cover will work. Nikon seems to use them on their camera's compared to other brands. Think I've seen them for .99 cents....buy them online :)

    I take mine off anyways.

I got a replacement hotshoe cover instead, which is bigger but much more practical:

How does the hot-shoe cover impacts the weatherproofing of the E-M5? If it's missing, can the hot shoe get wet?

It has no effect on weather-proofing. :) Shoot in all the rain you want, you don't need the covers.

I'm tempted to remove the AP port cover at least, since it's a hassle every time I need to put on / remove a flash.

So is the AP port weathersealed as well? I'd be very surprised if this is the case...

That was my guess -- the reason I got more.
