I am really impressed that Olympus has decided to launch the E-M5 here in India. I wasn't expecting it to come here soon. It's costlier (about $300-$350 more), but that's a price we pay I guess.

Panasonic, please learn from Olympus and bring the prices down. Currently, the GH2 costs a whooping $2000 here .

Veereshai, does that have anything to do with import duties or Indian tax rates? Or is it profiteering?

I suspect it's something to do with duties and taxes. Not sure though, will have to look it up. But, Panasonic hasn't bothered to updated the price at all. The E-PL1 with 14-42 is available for about $300 right now, so Olympus has been quite active in the India market.
