^^ Same here - more concerned about AF and tracking.

For a sub-forum called "News and Rumors", it would be nice to preface rumour threads in the headline....

"Rumoured E-M1 II is rumoured to be coming at PK and to have 4K"

Don't we all. We are all (or mostly) photographers, not videographers. I want a Sony camera (specs) in the E-M1 form factor.

Not interested in the video side of things, but would like better high ISO performance and better resolution is always good.

Latest rumor confirms what many have guessed about EM-1 II:

    20MP sensor

4K video (first Olympus camera with 4K)
    Handheld High Resolution mode
    Much improved autofocus performance
    new high-resolution EVF
    Announcement at Photokina in September

That will be fantastic if stabilization is really improved enough to do high res shots handheld. Give the 20MP sensor, I would guess the resulting file would be in the 80MP range. I imagine we may have to way after the camera ships before all the companies doing raw converters (Adobe, DxO, Capture 1,...etc.) will be ready to process that file.

(FT4) Handheld High Resolution mode will be one of the new features on the E-M1II – 43 Rumors

I'd hoped that it was only a matter of time that handheld high res would be a reality. The implementation and success of this might be what keeps me in m4/3 for the very long foreseeable future.

If that spec sheet is accurate I'll buy it. (assuming it supports on chip PDAF)

one side benefit for it doing 4K is that the body should support the latest high speed specs like UHS-II and U3...etc. So even if you don't shoot video, just maybe the buffer will dump faster with newer cards. That is important if you are shooting wildlife or sports using 7 or 10 fps.

For a sub forum called "News and Rumors" you'd think people could figure it out.

On another note, the words "latest rumor" and "confirm" don't really seem like they should be used together.

Good point! But I expected that - even w/o the 4K video, as both the E-M5 II and E-M10 II supports UHS-II cards.

I'm hoping that "much improved AF" means cross-points for PD-AF, better C-AF, and usable C-AF+TR! An even better EVF sounds good too. :)

4K on the GH4 is 100 Megabits per second, that's only about 13 Megabytes per second. You are looking at looking at 2 seconds per RAW image at that speed. Or 20 seconds to copy a 2 seconds of 10fps burst.

There are cards that write at over 100MB/s, so it would be great if it could go that fast. But 4K requirements would not be the reason.

Well, that was just a rumour rather than a promise! The same sort of rumour that said we'd get 4k on the E-M1 v4 firmware! I still think it's 50/50 whether it's delivered and works well enough to be useful.

I'd rather not have to open rumour threads to figure it out. Not interested.

Personally anything that is more than two weeks out I treat as rumour unless it is a company press release. Given this thread references photokina I think that puts it fully into the wishful thinking rumour category.

Touche. You are correct. I treat everything in here as a rumor and neglected to consider the titular "news" aspect of it . . .
