I've got what looks like a big speck of dust on my EPL1 sensor, but it's not on the surface. I tried to brush it off and it's under whatever the outer layer of the sensor is. Yikes! How did that get in there?

Well, they can sneak in when one is changing lenses which is why I believe the advice is to hold the camera body facing down, as you're doing the lens changing.

Here is a handy thread that should help you if you need any "how to" clean advice: https://www.mu-43.com/f35/clean-sensor-861/

This sounds like a service centre visit is needed. Does it show up in your images?
