Dramatic Skies

Here are some dramatic skies taken out of my window. So not much preperation. Just saw the strange light outsight and grabbed my camera. Used spot metering and AE-lock.

Would like to some more examples with some technical background explanation Camera and processing if possible. Who has some to share!!!!

A recent late afternoon shot over an old cider orchard about 50 metres up the lane behind my cottage.

Panasonic GF1 with Voigtlander 12mm, f5.6 lens.

I took this with my new Sony A33 and Tamron 18-250. Sometimes you are in the right place, at the right time. I just cropped it slightly in LZ so it's straight out of the camera. This is right before the sun rose. The link below is the full resolution image for those interested.

Not up to the level of some of the other shots posted here, but I thought this moonrise over some storm clouds was interesting. Taken with a Gf1 and a Carl Zeiss 80-200mm f4 Vario Sonnar.

Thank you. I've always been fascinated by the weather and storms. This was a quick grab of a recent thunder storm here. I should have put a longer lens on, but the storm was receding rapidly and I didn't want to miss the moon peeking from behind the storm clouds with lightning below. Taken with the Gf1 and 20mm, exposure was 60 seconds at f8, tripod. If anyone has experience capturing lightning, I would appreciate some tips.
