Got a chance last weekend to do a photo walk around downtown Morristown NJ for a few hours. I felt like I'd been using zooms too much lately and wanted to spend some time shooting with primes to make me think about composition more. I took just the GX1 with 12mm, 20mm and 45mm lenses for the day.

Surprisingly, the 20mm spent much less time on my camera than I expected, and the 12mm was my most used lens. The results from this walk around inspired me to pick up a 14mm to try for street photos like these, and I'll have to go back and try this again after it arrives.

Here's some of my favorites from the day, hope you all enjoy. Post-processed with LightRoom 4 and Silver Efex for the B&W shots.

Great shots - I really like the variety. The colors really pop in several of the images and B&W adds something extra to the story. Nice.

    Thanks!

I had a lot of fun just wandering around without any particular photographic agenda for this one.

Cool photos. The lion in the last photo looks like he's thinking some deep thoughts ;)

The photos that popped the most for me where the 45mm shots. I love the sharpness of the statues and the jesus saves sign. Also the clouds have good depth, B&W was a great choice with the white cross.

    Thanks Don!

I've been very fortunate to be able to put together a set of excellent native lenses so I can switch things up. I think it boosts my creativity, and enables me to get shots I couldn't or wouldn't have when I had just the kit lens. Not to mention it's just plain fun

My wife grew up in Morristown, and we attend Liquid Church there (meets in the Hyatt on Speedwell Avenue). Several times when we've walked around town I thought the Green and downtown would be a good spot for photos, so when I had some free time I took advantage of it
