Does the GF2 meter really not care about built in flash?

In some test shots, I noticed my GF2 was over exposing with the built in flash.. so I did some testing to see what the meter is trying to do.. First, I set the camera to i.Auto and took 2 pictures, with exp comp at 0 and -3 .. so far so good, second picture was much darker... Then, I repeated the above with the pop up flash up... the two generated files are visually almost identical.. it appears exposure compensation useless if the popup flash is used..

Am I missing something or is this just how it is? Is it the same on other pana/oly bodies?
