I would like to buy a remote shutter release for my olypus epl-1 and i havent seen any for it .. but howevery i had found one on amazon that is made for the ep1.

Would it actually work for the epl-1 if it has the same usb port as the ep1..

Here is the link to the remote shutter release.

Unfortunately there is no remote shutter device that will work with the EPL1. It's not just about the socket, it's what the camera can do with the signal being received.
There is hope that a future firmware upgrade might add the capability.
I'd certainly get a remote if any worked.

also, just for information, it's not a USB port (although it looks very very similar) but an Olympus proprietary connector ... I made the same mistake

It will plug in, it just won't do anything. I really can't understand why they left that feature out.

Unfortunately if they do add that functionality it won't be until the release the E-PL2 (then hopefully they will update the firmware for the E-P1, P2 and PL1).
