Does anyone know specifically what the difference is between setting flash comp in the menu and setting it in RC mode?

As in, as I believe it, if I set it in menu it, what, should affect all flashes? But in RC mode I can dial in a separate flash comp for each channel, useful for multiple flashes.

However, I've currently got the FL-600R literally adjacent to my OM-D and I find if I have RC flash comp at 0 and set menu flash comp to, say, +2, I get different results than if I set menu flash comp to 0 and RC flash comp to +2. The image is slightly different, the histogram shows the latter a bit hotter.

Likewise I get equally different results if I set a mixture of the two.

Ergo, what's exactly going on here, as I said I'm literally just using it side by side to the OM-D and was playing around, noticed the difference and wondered what's up.
