As requested, we now have a user-selectable dark skin for the site. You can select it by clicking the "Default Style" link in the bottom left corner of any page and then clicking on "Default Style Dark".
Wow! I thought I made the light skin lower contrast than most sites on the web. Much less bright than Google or NY Times for example.
You did, but I tend to be on this site with my ipad in a darkened room and that doesn't help. Either way, thanks!
Amin, it would be nice if the "Rating" icons on the right (Like, etc.) were a bit more visible. They virtually disappear on my screens and squinting-hunting is necessary to find them. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but being able to see them without hunting seems beneficial!
I think my wife would kill me if I said I was going to paint the walls of our house dark grey or black so that our paintings and photos would look better.
I'd still prefer a white option as well. Most sites I read, like news etc, all have white backgrounds. So going from one to the other is far less jarring.
Thanks Amin, it looks nice and I appreciate all the little tweaks you are making to the layout overall. The only complaint I have with this dark theme is that Quoted Text doesn't stand out as much; maybe the border could be tweaked a little on the sides and bottom? Thanks, Barry
Hi Barry, thanks, there is a ton of fine tuning that I'd like to do on both the dark and gray themes. The light one too . I'll keep at it and appreciate the input!
Mmmmmm... grey. Much better! The grey text isn't paid any favours though. Can you skin the font colours? Personally, I'd love something in a stand-out orange, but others would probably appreciate anything not orange The dark breaks between posts is a big improvement as well
The grey one is really nice but I'll stay with the light one. I think it looks perfect with the right amount of brightness. Clean and simple (We need more emoticons...missing the thumbs up)
