I have been able to reset the numbers on the camera, but not to set a custom numbering scheme. How do I change it from P10000001.rw2 to something else, such as Q10000001.rw2 or X0000001.rw2? The manual has me confused.

Unfortunately, I don't believe this is possible in the GX7. If you use a program such as LR, you can rename the files on import.

I believe the numeric portion of the file name is all that can be reset/changed. I will have to look through the manual to be sure.

I'm not aware of anyway to do that in camera, but I do know LR lets you set a custom sequentially numbered name when you import. Your username makes me think you might prefer aperture, but I imagine it has similar features.

I use Aperture as well as LR. I was just hopeful about recording onto the SD card.
