Crab blowing bubbles

    I found this guy blowing bubbles during a recent trip to California. I believe it to be a member of Pachygrapsus crassipes. He's blowing bubbles to keep his gills aerated.


    Shot with the adapted Olympus 40-150mm, at 150mm.

    Very cool! I clicked on the photo for the large photo. Nice detail. At first, I couldn't tell what bubbles you were talking about. But looking at the large version shows all the details.

    I think it's his first go at bubble gum, he can't get enough. It'll wear off in a few days
