If I break down and buy a "new Lens", as in modern in-the-box, that would be the one. These look great to me. What F-Stop? The DOF looks like it is stopped down a bit?

My Canon 50/1.2 and 50/0.95 do not hold this high of contrast used wide-open.

My wife and I were able to try out this lens at the VC dealer we visited yesterday. It was a bit heavy and the barrel is big. But with the quality of the image it puts out, worth the extra weight.

Brian the 1st was actually my 1st shot with the lens at the dealership.. Wide Open.... The 2nd was at 5.6 with Studio strobe camera Right..

Noodlehaus, it is actually lighter than the 35 1.2... I'm picking up a Leica M6 on Monday and debating which lens to bring with me.... It only has .58 viewfinder so it will probably end up being my 28mm as the 35 is too heavy.

That is sharp wide-open. I can't beliefe some people "knock" this lens. It is probably half the weight of the Canon 50/0.95, the latter uses 72mm filters. I have the C-Mount adapter for mine, so when I add a 4/3rds camera, it will be easily adapted.

Also "Future M8 Owner", prices are way down, well under $2,500 and some under $2,000...Mine was like new, under 400 clicks, in the box, with warranty, under $2,500.

But the 50/0.95 is on the Canon 7. I've used the 50/1.2 on the M8.

Lol... I should probably remove that... I'm buying an M6 Monday... Going to play with that for a year... I want a rangefinder, and I want film.. I would be just doing the same thing with an M8 to do b&w..

Thanks, it was taken with the EP-1 at ISO 6400, 1/100 sec f1.1, so I used Imagenomic to clean things up a bit.

I ended up buying the 50/1.1 and 35/1.2 Noktons with end-of-year bonus.

Test shot on the M8.



I ended up adding two layers of copper tape, about 0.05mm, to the RF cams for the M8. Liked them, and ended up selling off some film gear to fund an M9. Will be here this week.

This lens is fantastic! I have been enjoying the extra reach — compared with the CV 25mm f0.95 [which I love for its close-focusing ability]. But I think the 50mm f1.1 is appreciably sharper wide open. The following candid was at a benefit gig: OM-D, CV Nokton 50mm f1.1; @ f1.1, 1/60s, ISO 800.
