The August issue of Consumer Reports rates cameras (not sure when it came out, but it's New To Me). Their "Best values in an SLR-like model" are (in this order): G2, Sony A55, Sony A33, G10, GF2. The G2 and G10 earn "Best Buy" checkmarks. The highest score of for phones of any type is a score of 75 (out of 100) shared by the G2 and the (much more expensive) Canon 60D. None of the latest generation of cameras (G3, EP3, EPL3, EPM1) were rated. A lot of people chafe at Consumer Report ratings, since they rate cameras the same way they rate dishwashers and glass cleaner and child car seats and peanut butter. But they're a lot of shoppers first stop when shopping for something unfamiliar, so their ratings drive sales.
